Biographical Information[edit]

Duane Brown pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Brown was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 37th round of the 1988 Amateur Draft, and he went 3-7 with a 2.55 ERA for the GCL Astros in his first year, tying for third in the New York-Penn League in losses. He also pitched two games for the Auburn Astros, and his ERA was 3.12. Brown then had a 3.00 ERA in 6 games in Auburn in 1989, and he recorded a 7.82 ERA in 3 games for the Asheville Tourists. He stayed in Asheville in 1991, and he went 6-13 with a save and a 4.43 ERA in 31 games. Only Robbie Beckett lost more games in the South Atlantic League that year.

He had a 5-3 record with a 3.45 ERA in 44 games for the Tourists the next summer, but his ERA rose to 5.02 in 35 games for the Osceola Astros in 1993. Brown went 4-9 with a 5.54 ERA for the Surrey Glaciers in 1995, and he went 3-3 with a 3.77 ERA for the Elmira Pioneers in 1998. The Brother Elephants then signed him, but he allowed 19 runs in 19 innings in 1998 CPBL. He struggled again in 1999 as his ERA was 7.96 in 7 games for the Reno Blackjacks, then his professional career ended.
