Douglas Park
Douglas Park was home to the Rock Island Islanders and is located at 18th Avenue and 10th Street in Rock Island, IL. The Rock Island Islanders played at the park in the seasons from 1907 until 1937. The Islanders played in the Three-I League (1920–1921), Mississippi Valley League (1922–1933) and Western League (1934–1937).The Islanders were affiliated with the St. Louis Browns 1932; Cincinnati Reds 1933.[1]
Notably, Douglas Park was a also a former National Football League venue, shared between the Islanders and the Rock Island Independents. Douglas Park has the distinction of hosting the first National Football League game on September 26, 1920.[2] Today the site is still a park with a ball field as part of the Rock Island Park System. [3]
