Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Douglas Dean played in the minor leagues from 1935 to 1939. He started off with bang, hitting .376 with 204 hits and 12 triples between the New Orleans Pelicans and Opelousas Indians his first year. He led the Evangeline League in hits (189) and batting average (.383). In 1936, he was limited to 51 games, but batted .345/.428/.430 for the Jackson Senators. He spent three more seasons in the minors, but never had such success again.
