Biographical Information[edit]
Doug Tegtmeier pitched in the Seattle Mariners system in 1990 and 1991 and for the independent Duluth-Superior Dukes in 1993. He was originally taken by the New York Yankees in the 8th round of the 1987 amateur draft, one pick ahead of infielder Tim Bogar, but opted not to sign.
He was 1-1 with a 2.21 ERA in 17 relief appearances for the Bellingham Mariners in 1990, but slipped to 3-3 with a 5.35 mark in 50 games for the Peninsula Pilots in 1991. After not playing in 1992, he pitched for the Dukes in 1993, going 3-4, 4.54 in 22 games (8 starts).
Overall, he went 7-8 with a 4.42 ERA in 89 games (9 starts). In 191 1/3 innings, he allowed 223 hits and 70 walks (1.531 WHIP), while striking out 120 batters.
