Biographical Information[edit]
Relief pitcher Doug Pettit played in the Florida Marlins system from 1992 to 1995. Despite multiple solid seasons, he never pitched beyond Double-A. He was always a year and a half or two years older than average player in his league, suggesting he may not have been highly regarded by the organization.
He was originally taken by the Marlins in the 41st round of the 1992 amateur draft. With the Erie Sailors that year, he saved 11 games and had a 3.13 ERA in 22 appearances. He went 5-10 with 17 saves and a 2.45 ERA in 52 games for the Kane County Cougars in 1993, then 3-3, 2.51 with 14 saves in 40 games for the Brevard County Manatees in 1994. He split 1995 between two clubs, going 5-6, 3.24 with 6 saves in 48 appearances.
Overall, he went 15-21 with 48 saves and a 2.80 ERA in 162 appearances over 4 seasons.
