Douglas Matlejan

Biographical Information

Catcher Doug Matlejan played for Western Australia in the Claxton Shield, starring for them in the 1980s. In 1983, he was named the MVP of the tournament. He hit .343/.447/? in his Claxton Shield career. He played for the Australian national team in the 1980 Amateur World Series, 1981 Intercontinental Cup, 1982 Amateur World Series, 1983 Asian Championship and 1985 Asian Championship. He was later General Manager of the Perth Heat (1996-1999). In 2010, he was inducted into the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame.
