Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Doug Ames was taken in the 26th round of the 1985 amateur draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, one pick before Larry Arndt. He spent two seasons in the minors, going 7-5 with a 4.61 ERA in 31 games (11 starts). He also hit .222 in nine at-bats. In '85, he pitched for the Great Falls Dodgers (10 R, 20 H in 12 2/3 IP) and GCL Dodgers (2-3, 3.13). Moving to the Oakland Athletics chain, he was 5-2 with a 4.89 ERA in 20 games (4 starts) for the Madison Muskies.

He later became an agent, notable for representing Jose Canseco (his 1986 teammate with Madison).
