Biographical Information[edit]
Dong-gyu Im pitched in the KBO for 4 years and one year in the China Baseball League.
Im was drafted by the Samsung Lions in the 5th round of the 1999 KBO draft, and he decided to go to college first. He joined the Lions in 2003, and he pitched 2 games with a 13.50 ERA that season. He was then loaned to the Guangdong Leopards, and he was 5-2 in 2004. Im returned to Korea and went 4-2 with a 2.74 ERA in 2005, then he was 8-7 with a 3.91 ERA in 2006. He led the league with 20 homers allowed in the '06 season. Im slumped to 1-2 with a 5.59 ERA in 2007, and he missed the next two seasons due to military service. He stayed in the minors for the entire 2010 season, then he announced his retirement.
Overall, Im was 13-11 with a 4.13 ERA, struck out 136 and pitched 270 innings in 4 seasons in the KBO.
