Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Donald Van Deusen played in the New York Yankees system in 1967 and 1968. He was originally taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the 25th round of the 1966 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. The Yankees then took him as the last pick of the 1967 amateur draft—975th overall in the 77th round—and he inked a contract. He played for the Johnson City Yankees in 1967, hitting .264/.338/.308 with a home run and 13 RBI in 58 games. In 94 games for the Kinston Eagles in 1968, he hit .223/.298/.232 with no home runs and 19 RBI; he walked 34 times to 24 strikeouts and finished with 55 career walks to 40 Ks.
