Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Domingo Acevedo was signed by the New York Yankees before the 2013 season. He made slow progress at first, but in 2015 was a combined 3-0, 1.81 in 12 starts between the Staten Island Yankees and Charleston RiverDogs. In 2016, he was 5-4, 2.61 in 18 starts between Charleston and the Tampa Yankees. In 2017, he pitched in both AA and AAA for the first time, lining up with the Trenton Thunder of the Eastern League and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders of the International League, and also saw time in Tampa. Between the three stops, he went 6-6, 3.25 and logged 133 innings, his first time with more than 100 in a season.

In 2018, he started the year 2-2, 2.84 in his first 11 games with Trenton. He pitched for the World team in the 2018 Futures Game, and a week later, on July 21st, he was called up to the big leagues for the first time. It was only for a day and he was there strictly as insurance if the Yankees had needed a long reliever, but it was a first taste of the big league atmosphere for him. It turned out that his services weren't required in the game and he was sent back down at the end of the day.

He had to wait until June of 2021 to get another shot at the majors and finally make his debut. By this time, he was no longer a member of the Yankees, as he had become a free agent after the 2020 season, which he spent at the Yankees' alternate training site, and signed with the Oakland Athletics. He began the year with the AAA Las Vegas Aviators before getting the call to the Show. His first game came on June 21st, when he pitched a scoreless inning of relief in an 8-3 loss to the Texas Rangers.
