Founded in 1990, the Dohren Wild Farmers made their debut in the top tier of Germany's Bundesliga in 2010. For the 2010 season, the Wild Farmers were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time, in which they are represented in the North Division. In the 2012 season, the Wild Farmers men's team would actually have been relegated, but they were allowed to stay in the 1st Bundesliga because no team from the 2nd Bundesliga wanted to be promoted. In 2014, the Wild Farmers finished the regular season 5th in the north, but were relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga

Since 2017 they have been playing again in the 1st Bundesliga North, where they reached the play-offs three times in a row .
