Biographical Information

Doc Jacobs played baseball, basketball and football at Villanova. He coached Villanova's basketball (1929-1936) and baseball (1933-1943) teams, going 101-37 in baseball. He coached Mickey Vernon, Lennie Merullo, Jim Schelle, Mike Garbark, Ray Stoviak, Art Mahan, Swede Larsen, Frank Skaff and Ben Geraghty. He also managed the Easton Browns (56-41 in 1937, again guiding Vernon as well as Charlie Metro) and the Easton Cubs (55-56 in 1938). He later coached baseball, basketball, golf and football at Saint Michael's College.
