Biographical Information[edit]
Dick Vining was a college coach for over 50 years.
An infielder in college, Vining started the baseball program at Orange County Community College in 1955 and was head coach of State University of New York at Farmingdale from 1957 to 1965, Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus from 1966 to 1974 and the United States Merchant Marine Academy from 1975-1977. He was then head coach of Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus from 1978 to 2005. He then became an assistant coach at C.W. Post in 2007. Vining took LIU-Brooklyn to the Division II College World Series in 1968. Overall Vining posted a 815-686-17 record in 51 seasons.
Vining was also president of the Metropolitan Collegiate Baseball Conference from 1983-84 and associate professor of health science and physical education at C.W. Post for 17 seasons.
