Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Dick Scott played briefly in the majors with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs.
After playing four sports in high school in Kittery, Maine, Scott signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers. However, he first spent two years in the Army before beginning his baseball career in 1956. He reached the majors in 1963, posting a 6.75 ERA in 9 appearances for the now-Los Angeles Dodgers. The team won the World Series that year, but he did not appear in the Fall Classic. That December, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs for Cuno Barragan and Jim Brewer.
Scott spent most of 1964 with the Salt Lake City Bees, going 5-11 with a 4.19 ERA in 19 games, but also made 3 relief appearances for the Cubs, posting a 12.46 ERA.
Most of his minor league career from 1956-1964 was in the Dodgers organization. With the Spokane Indians in 1958 he was a teammate of Maury Wills, Jim Gentile, Larry Sherry and Norm Sherry along with other future major leaguers.
