Dick Butler was South Atlantic League President in 1953-1954, Texas League President from 1955-1963 and American League Supervisor of Umpires for 16 years. In 2004, he was inducted into the South Atlantic League Hall of Fame. Two years later, he was placed in the Texas League Hall of Fame as well.
