Biographical Information

Dewey Adkins pitched 38 times in the big leagues. The majority of his appearances came with the Chicago Cubs in 1949, pitching to a 2-4, 5.68 mark in 30 games (5 starts). He primarily wore number 17. Dewey also had a lengthy minor league career, logging time in such future big league cities as Atlanta (1943, 1946-1947) and Los Angeles (1948, 1950-1952). He was born in Norcatur, KS, in northern Kansas near the Nebraska border.
