Biographical Information

Derek Bayliss was on the South African national team that won the 2019 African Championship; he served up a homer to Lassina Sanfo in the team's victory over Burkina Faso. It was his only hit in two innings pitched, but it still gave him South Africa's second-highest ERA; only Damon King was higher. He remained with them for the 2019 Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier, in which he had a 13.50 ERA in 2 2/3 IP against Spain and Israel. This time, three teammates had higher ERAs as the competition was tougher.
