Derek Matlock

Biographical Information[edit]

Derek Matlock has been a college coach for 20 years (as of 2024).

Matlock began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Eastern Hills High School in 1994, becoming head coach from 1996 to 1999. He was then head coach at Flower Mound High School from 2000 to 2004. Moving to the college ranks, Matlock was an assistant coach at Texas Christian University (2005-2006), Texas State University (2007-2012) and West Virginia University (2013-2017). He was also manager of the collegite summer Denton Outlaws in 2004-2007. Matlock then became head coach at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2018.
