Biographical Information[edit]

Derek Hassell has coached in the US and Germany.

Hassell hit .415 as a college senior, setting a Carroll school record with 56 hits in a season. He was assistant coach at Carroll (2002), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (2003) and Gardner-Webb University (2005). He managed the Solingen Alligators to a 37-8 record in 2006 and their first Bundesliga-1 title. He also was 2 for 4 with two walks as a player for Solingen. He then returned to the US as an assistant at Charleston Southern University (2007), Texas Christian University (2008-2009) and Furman University (2010). He then went back to his alma mater, this time as head coach. Carroll let Hassell go, two days after an April 15 incident at Ripon College in which his brother allegedly assaulted an umpire following a 6-4 loss by the Pioneers.
