Derek Dunaway set the UMHB career record for wins, even though the school had produced four major league hurlers. Dunaway was assistant coach at East Texas Baptist University from 2002-2005, then was an assistant at UMHB from 2006-2010. He became interim head coach in 2011, going 19-20, then had the interim removed from his title at season's end. After another season, though, he was replaced by Ben Shipp.
