Denny Nino played 7 seasons in the minor leagues.
Signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in April 2001, he debuted that year with Chivacoa in the Venezuelan Summer League (.241) and the DSL Pirates (.257). In 2002, he was 5 for 26 with 7 walks and a double for the GCL Pirates. Back with the same club for most of 2003, he hit .316/.345/.405 in 24 games and was 0 for 4 for the Hickory Crawdads.
The Caracas native split 2004 between the Williamsport Crosscutters (1 for 10, BB) and the Lynchburg Hillcats (.200/.243/.257 in 25 G as a #3 catcher). In '05, he saw limited action in both Williamsport (6 for 26, 2 BB, 2B) and Hickory (0 for 6).
Nino went 6 for 26 with 3 doubles for the 2006 Hillcats, as the 5th-most-used catcher. In 2007, he hit .240/.329/.400 for Lynchburg, playing 27 games as the backup to Steve Lerud.
Nino had hit .236/.297/.324 in 352 plate appearances and 113 games spread over 6 seasons in US-based minor leagues, averaging under 20 games played per season.
Denny signed with CB Viladecans in Spain for 2010. He debuted in the Division Honor on March 6, going 0 for 2 with a time hit by pitch versus Leslie Nacar in a loss to the Marlins Puerto Cruz. He hit cleanup and started at catcher that day.
