Biographical Information[edit]

Den-Kai Tang played in the CPBL and coached for the Chinese Taipei national baseball team.

Tang was drafted by the Kaoping Fala in the first round of the 1999 TML draft, but the Fala immediately traded him to the Taipei Gida for Hsun-Ming Fan. Tang only played 2 games for the Gida, then he was traded to the Chianan Luka for Chih-Yue Lee. Tang hit .209/.249/.227 in 70 games for the Luka in his rookie year. He only had 65 more appearances in the TML over the next three seasons. When the two leagues merged in 2003, Tang was assigned to the Macoto Gida. He only played 26 games with a .226/.294/.226 batting line, then the Gida released him after the 2003 season, which ended his career. After retiring, Tang became a coach and coached the Nan-Ying Vocational High School from 2004 to 2010 and for Tung Shih High School from 2010 to 2012. He is the coach for the Far East University since 2012. He also coached for Taiwan in 2018 World University Championship, 2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup, 2019 World Port Tournament, 2019 Asian Championship, 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup and 2023 Asian Games.

Overall, Tang had hit .229/.260/.268 in five seasons in the TML and the CPBL.
