Biographical Information[edit]
Demie Mainieri was the head coach at Miami Dade Community College North for many years, and became the first junior college coach to win 1,000 games on March 12, 1990, beating Lloyd Simmons by one week. Mainieri won 1,012 games at Miami-Dade.
He was a coach for the US in the 1978 Amateur World Series.
His son is Paul Mainieri, the head coach at Louisiana State University.
He later scouted for the Milwaukee Brewers throughout the 1990s and part-time for the Chicago Cubs in Florida.
