Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Dedniel Núñez was originally signed by the New York Mets as an international amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic on October 21, 2016. On December 10, 2020, he was claimed by the San Francisco Giants in the 2020 Rule V Draft but was placed on the injured list by the Giants in the spring of 2021 and missed the entire season as a result. The following November, the Giants returned him to the Mets as they figured he had no chance of making their opening day roster the next year after missing two full seasons of action because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the injury.
Núñez reached the majors with the Mets on April 9, 2024, pitching 2 innings in relief of Adrian Houser and giving up 1 run while picking up 3 strikeouts in a 6-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves.
