Biographical Information[edit]

1B/OF Dean Lindberg hit .416/.542/.714 in 2005 for the Leksand Lumberjacks. He was third in the Elitserien in average, third in slugging and was third in OBP. He was second in home runs (4), tied Magnus Pilegård for the most doubles (11), led in RBI (32) and was third in runs (27). He hit .300/.391/.500 as Sweden's main first baseman in the 2005 European Championship, handling 49 chances error-free. Of Sweden's starters, only Rickard Reimer had a better slugging percentage. In the 2005 Baseball World Cup, Lindberg was 2 for 14 with 2 runs and 7 strikeouts while splitting first base duties with Pilegård.

In 2007, he batted .384/.471/.666 for Stockholm, leading in triples (7) and finishing second in home runs (4) and second in slugging. In the 2007 European Championship, Lindberg hit .346/.393/.538 to finish second among Sweden's regulars in OPS behind Peter Johannesen. His 6 RBI led Sweden. He also had the lone Swedish homer, a 2-run shot off future minor leaguer Eric Gonzalez in a loss to Spain.
