Biographical Information[edit]
David Mundy played for South Australia from 1965-1981 and later coached them. He appeared for the Australian national team from 1966-1979. In their first major competition, Mundy was their shortstop in the 1971 Asian Championship. He won Bronze with them in the 1975 Asian Championship, their only Asian Championship medal. He was the third baseman for Australia in the 1978 Amateur World Series, their first Amateur World Series. He did not have a great Series, going 5 for 33 with a triple, four walks and four errors (fielding .882) in 10 games. His four RBI did tie John Galloway for the team lead. He was also the Helms Award winner (MVP) of the 1973 Claxton Shield. In 2005, he was part of the first class in the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame; the other players chosen from the 1968-1988 era were Neil Page, Kevin Greatrex, Larry Home and John Swanson.
As a youth, he played cricket.
