Biographical Information[edit]
David Govea had a brief pro career.
The Chicago Cubs took Govea in the 13th round of the 1978 amateur draft, two rounds before Mark Langston. He went on to college instead, where he was the All-American first baseman in NCAA Division II as a senior. The California Angels chose him in the 12th round of the 1982 amateur draft, one pick before Ray Hayward. He hit .250/.363/.321 with 42 walks and 42 RBI in 62 games for the Salem Angels, fielding .977 at 1B. He tied Jose Gomez for the most errors by a Northwest League first baseman (11). He also was 5th in the NWL in RBI. He did not play another season.
