David Goffena was the brother of Tom Goffena, the first Toronto Blue Jays draftee ever. In the 1980 amateur draft, Toronto took David in the 25th round. The younger Goffena allowed 15 runs (7 earned), 11 walks and 12 runs in 8 innings for the 1980 Medicine Hat Blue Jays. In 1981, he was 0-2 with 16 runs (4 earned) in 20 innings for the GCL Blue Jays.
