Biographical Information[edit]

David Crowson has been a minor league player, college coach and scout.

Crowson was taken by the New York Mets in the 12th round of the 1986 amateur draft. He had a 2-7, 5.23 record for the 1986 Kingsport Mets and had one double in 11 at-bats. He tied for fifth in the Appalachian League in losses and tied for third with 83 hits allowed. Back with Kingsport in '87, he fared even worse (0-5, Sv, 8.67, 1.95 WHIP, the lone positive being 43 K in 36 1/3 IP). He caught for the 1988 GCL Braves but was just 2 for 27 with a walk. Overall, he had a 2-12, 6.38 record in 30 pitching appearances as a pro, with 58 walks, 130 hits and 92 strikeouts in 108 2/3 IP. He had 3 hits (one double) in 40 at-bats, with one walk, one run and five RBI.

Crowson was a coach at Texas A&M University (1990-1993), Yavapai Community College (1994) and Texas A&M (1995-1997). He began his scouting career with the 2000 Angels. He moved to the Florida Marlins in 2004 as a crosschecker. He signed Logan Kensing. A 2012 Baseball America article listed him as one of the top 10 candidates for a future scouting director job.
