Biographical Information

David Amaro is the grandson of Santos Amaro, son of Ruben Amaro Sr. and brother of Ruben Amaro Jr.. He was the third generation of his family to play in the Mexican League.

David was a 24th-round draft pick by the Chicago Cubs in the 1984 amateur draft. He played for the Geneva Cubs and hit .200/~.326/.247 in 56 games as the regular first baseman. He battled a wrist injury and retired.

In 1985, Amaro tried to stage a comeback with the Mexico City Tigers and hit .292/~.346/.375 in 8 games, scoring six runs, before his wrist problems caused him to retire for good.

Amaro later worked as the National Sales Manager for Lyslas, a computer company.
