Biographical Information[edit]
Davis "Dave" Wills played for the Louisville Colonels as a first baseman in 1899. He came straight out of the University of Virginia, where he played baseball and football.
He served as a major and chief paymaster of the U.S. Marines during World War I.
Dave Wills, Nick Carter and Doc Curley were all at the University of Virginia in 1899. Wills and Curley came to the majors that same year, while Carter had to wait nearly a decade.
