Biographical Information[edit]
The brother of Bruce Robinson, Dave Robinson was the first player signed by the expansion San Diego Padres on July 31, 1968. He had a strong cup of coffee with the Padres in 1970, hitting .316 and slugging .526. He was a left fielder, and the regular left fielder that year was Al Ferrara. In 1971, when he got another brief shot in the majors, it was Leron Lee.
Robinson was at San Diego State College at the same time as Jim Nettles.
His nephew Scott Robinson has played several years in the minor leagues.
