Dave Pagel reached AA.

Pagel was on Team USA in the 1979 Pan American Games. He was All-Mid-American Conference in 1979 and 1980 and was the All-American shortstop in 1980. He finished among Central Michigan University's top 10 in career hits, doubles, homers and RBI while batting .390, second-best. The Chicago Cubs took him in the 3rd round of the 1980 amateur draft, with the 63rd overall pick, right ahead of fellow All-American Scotti Madison.

Pagel made his pro debut with the Geneva Cubs and hit .249/.360/.328 in the odd-role of SS-C. He was 7th in the New York-Penn League with 44 walks. In 1981, he played for the Quad Cities Cubs (.211/.313/.333 in 57 G, mostly at C) and the Midland Cubs (.223/.327/.307 in 47 G, mostly at SS). He had 16 passed balls in 46 games behind the plate. In '82, he ended his career with the Salinas Spurs (.250/.337/.302 in 57 G) and Midland (2 for 7, HR, 2 BB). Overall, he had batted .235/.338/.322 in 234 minor league games, with 123 walks. He had fielded .936 at SS and had 33 passed balls in 77 games at catcher.
