Biographical Information[edit]

Dave Montanari peaked at AA and played for Team Canada.

While at UCLA, Montanari was on Team Canada for the 1979 Pan American Games, 1980 Amateur World Series and 1981 Intercontinental Cup. [1] The Chicago Cubs signed him. In 1982, he hit .260/.350/.331 as a backup 2B/3B and DH for the Quad Cities Cubs and .296/.412/.333 in 13 games for the Salinas Spurs. In '83, he was a backup infielder for Salinas, batting .225/.293/.268.

Back with Quad Cities by 1984, he was their most-used first baseman and produced at a .258/.313/.314 clip. The next year, he stayed with Quad Cities, but moved to the California Angels chain and the team became the Quad Cities Angels. Dave hit .272/.372/.325 and fielded .990 at first base. He split 1986 between the Midland Angels (.347/.442/.453 in 28 G) and Palm Springs Angels (.277/.390/.339, 0 BB in 86 G), apparently ending his pro career.

He had hit .264/.350/.324 in 534 minor league games, with 204 runs and 204 RBI, drawing 237 walks while only fanning 211 times.
