Biographical Information[edit]

David Keith Meier attended Bullard High School in Fresno, CA and then went on to Fresno City College and Stanford University.

Standing at 6'0" and 185 pounds, this right-hander was originally drafted by the California Angels in the 31st round of the 1977 amateur draft and then by the St. Louis Cardinals in the secondary phase of the January 1978 amateur draft, but he opted not to sign. In the 1981 draft, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 5th round, 113th overall, and did sign.

A good contact hitter in the minors overall who showed some pop, Meier's best season was 1983 with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens, when he hit .336 with 8 home runs and 21 doubles in 126 games. He started the 1984 season on the Twins' Opening Day roster, making his big league debut as a pinch hitter on April 3rd. He went 0 for 1 in his debut.

He played his final game on September 29, 1988 for the Chicago Cubs at the age of 29. He went 1 for 1 as a pinch hitter in his final game. He tried stealing a base seven times in his career... and was caught each time.

He currently resides in Fresno.
