Biographical Information[edit]
Dave Gottfried became interim General Manager of the Houston Astros on November 27, 2011, when Ed Wade was fired alongside team President Tal Smith by new owner Jim Crane. His replacement, Jeff Luhnow, was hired on December 7th.
Gottfried graduated from Hofstra University in 1992. He began his career in baseball working in the Arizona Fall League in its inaugural season that year, as director of operations for the Grand Canyon Rafters. In 1993, he moved to the league offices and worked on marketing and operations. He was General Manager of the Modesto A's in the California League in 1997 and 1998, the joined the Astros organization.
Gottfried's first job with Houston was as an assistant in the baseball operations department. In 2000, he was promoted to Director of minor league administration. In 2005, he became Senior Director of baseball operations, then was promoted to Assistant General manager in December, 2006.
