Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Dave Allen played in the New York Mets system from 1963 to 1966. He displayed good average, speed and power, but rarely at the same time.

In his first campaign, he slashed .304/.360/.465 with 9 home runs, 13 triples, 68 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 128 games for the Salinas Mets. Back with Salinas in 1964, he batted .278/.333/.407 with 10 home runs, 82 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 126 games. He hit .281/.359/.351 in 22 games with the FIL Mets in the Florida Instructional League that year. Between two clubs in 1965, Allen hit .247/.328/.423 with 19 home runs, 73 RBI and 8 stolen bases in 116 games and in 30 games for the Williamsport Mets in 1966, he slashed .135/.226/.149.

Overall, Allen batted .270/.335/.417 with 38 home runs, 227 RBI and 46 stolen bases over 4 minor league seasons.
