Biographical Information[edit]

Daryle Gavlick pitched in the Chicago Cubs system from 1992 to 1994, peaking at Double-A. He was taken by Chicago in the 34th round of the 1992 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of pitcher Tim Harikkala.

With the Huntington Cubs in 1992, Gavlick went 6-4 with 4 complete games, 2 shutouts and a 3.05 ERA in 13 games (12 starts). The next year, after moving to the bullpen, he was 6-7 with 9 saves, a 1.102 WHIP and a 1.30 ERA in 51 games for the Peoria Chiefs. He split 1994 between two clubs, going 4-6, 5.00 in 48 games between them to wrap up his career. Overall, Gavlick went 16-17 with 15 saves in 112 games (12 starts). In 210 innings, he allowed 210 hits and 65 walks (1.310 WHIP), while striking out 157 strikeouts.

He was a Division-II All-American in 1992.
