Biographical Information[edit]

Darron Ingram was a strikeout prone, power-hitting outfielder who played in the minor leagues from 1994 to 2003. He was taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the 12th round of the 1994 amateur draft, a couple picks after pitcher Mike Saipe and a few picks ahead of All-Star hurler Jose Rosado.

He first showed his power potential in his second pro season, 1995, when he hit .275/.308/.506 with 14 home runs and 53 RBI in 60 games for the Princeton Reds. The next year, between two clubs, he had 18 home runs and 62 RBI and in 1997, with the Burlington Bees, he had 29 home runs, 97 RBI and 195 strikeouts in 134 games. Those were his peaks -- he hit twenty or more home runs twice and knocked 90-plus RBI once more, finishing with 162 and 606, respectively, for his career. He reached 160 or more strikeouts thrice more, with 188 whiffs in 2001 being his second-worst total, and had 1,279 overall. His career slash line was .250/.320/.452.

He remained in the Reds system through 1999 and joined the Los Angeles Dodgers system in 2000. From 2001 to 2003, he played in the Chicago White Sox organization. He played only briefly at Triple A, hitting .153/.227/.339 in 16 games there in 2002.
