Biographical Information

Darren Wedel played for South Africa in the 2004 World Junior Championship, allowing 12 hits, 6 walks and 9 runs in 8 innings, going 0-1. He was 1 for 5 as the backup catcher. In the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he had one at-bat, pinch-hitting for Brandon Bouillon with one out in the bottom of the 9th. He struck out against Spain's Manny Olivera; South Africa lost, 13-3.
