Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Darrell "Doc" Rodgers played six seasons in the minors.

Originally selected by the New York Mets in the 36th round of the 1981 amateur draft, Rodgers instead opted to attend the University of Oklahoma. He was then taken by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 38th round of the 1983 amateur draft but again did not sign. Finally, he was chosen by the San Francisco Giants in the 16th round of the 1985 amateur draft.

Rodgers began his pro career in 1985 and was selected for the Northwest League All-Star team that year after going 5-0 with a 0.47 ERA in 7 games for the Everett Giants. After three years in the Giants organization, he moved on to the Cincinnati Reds chain.

Following his playing days, Rodgers was pitching coach for the Princeton Reds in 1991-1992 then worked in the Reds front office for a time.
