Biographical Information[edit]
Darrel Bunge pitched a year in the Boston Red Sox system. Playing for the Waterloo Hawks in 1965, he went 8-6 with 108 strikeouts, five complete games and a 3.20 ERA in 23 appearances (9 starts), allowing just 71 hits and 26 walks in 90 innings. On May 30, he tossed a no-hitter against the Wisconsin Rapids Twins. It was one of two Midwest League no-hitters that day, with Chris Heintz and David Langrock of the Quincy Cubs combining for one against the Fox Cities Foxes, as well. He later taught and ran his family farm; he served in the US Army for a period.
