Darin Loe coached college baseball for over three decades.
Loe set Valley City State's records for season strikeouts (121 in 1987), career strikeouts (380) and career wins (28). In 1987, he led the NAIA in whiffs. he also played quarterback in college. The Seattle Mariners took him in the 26th round of the 1989 amateur draft. In his pro debut, he was 3-3 with a 5.98 ERA in 21 outings for the Bellingham Mariners, striking out 45 but walking 27 in 40 2/3 IP. With the 1990 Peninsula Pilots, Darin had a 4-5, 3.25 record and five saves. He fell to 0-1, 7.30 with a save for the San Bernardino Spirit and concluded his pro career with a 7-9, 4.38 record and six saves.
Loe was assistant coach at North Dakota State while earning his master's degree there. From 1994-1996, he coached Missouri Valley College, going 74-67. He was 82-67 at Baker University from 1997-1999. In 2000, he became head coach of Northwest Missouri State University. After 11 seasons there, he had a 306-283 mark. In 2003, he took the school to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1989. Loe retired after the 2024 season.
