Biographical Information[edit]

Darcy Walker was on Team Canada for the 1981 Intercontinental Cup. [1] He turned pro with the 1983 Calgary Expos, hitting .352/.398/.488. Had he qualified, he would have been 3rd in the Pioneer League in average, behind Vic Davila and Bill Moore. Moving up to the Gastonia Expos in 1984, he produced at a .284/.394/.443 clip. He was with the Peoria Chiefs in '85, batting .278/.368/.448 with 15 homers as their main first baseman. His two-out homer in the 11th gave his team the win in the Midwest League All-Star Game. [2] Among Chicago Cubs farmhands, he was 7th in runs (64), second in home runs (behind Jim Dickerson), tied Hector Freytes for 9th with 21 doubles and tied Bruce Crabbe for 5th in RBI (68). He tied for 9th in the MWL in dingers. The next year, he fell to .264/.333/.413 for the Winston-Salem Spirits to end his career.
