Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Cinders O'Brien, was properly named John F. O'Brien and was also known by the nickname "Darby". He won 22 games with the Cleveland Spiders in 1889. Along with teammates Henry Gruber, Jersey Bakely, Patsy Tebeau, and Paul Radford, he jumped to the Players League the following season, joining the Cleveland Infants.
O'Brien died of pneumonia at age 24.
