Biographical Information[edit]
Danny Escobar was a minor league outfielder and first baseman for 9 seasons. Escobar spent the second half of the 1930s playing in the Cincinnati Reds organization, reaching as high as class-B Waterloo in the 3-I League. In 1940, Escobar played for the Yankees' Western International League-affiliate Wenatchee Chiefs where he hit .365 with 72 extra-base hits and led the league in slugging, and for the Oakland Oaks. For 1941, Escobar signed with the independent Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League and concluded his career with Portland after the 1947 season. He led the 1946 PCL with 11 triples. Escobar's time in Portland was interrupted for 4 seasons (1942-45) by his military service in World War II.
