Biographical Information[edit]
Daniel Castillo has played in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team. He is listed as a righthanded batter on Baseball-Reference and the 2023 Pan Am Games site, but as a switch-hitter in the 2021 Brewers Media Guide.
He was signed by Milwaukee Brewers scout Jose Rodriguez in July 2017. [1] He hit .212/.328/.241 for the 2018 DSL Brewers; their primary shortstop, he fielded .916 there. He batted .218/.276/.265 for the 2019 AZL Brewers Gold, fielding .910 at short. The 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In '21, he played for the AZL Brewers Blue (.333/.397/.444 in 25 G), Carolina Mudcats (.153/.292/.220 in 19 G) and Biloxi Shuckers (.143/.250/.143 in 4 G). For his pro career, he had hit .222/.315/.274 in 145 games (he did go 26-for-36 in steal attempts) while fielding .910 at short.
Playing for Venezuela in the 2023 Pan American Games, he got into one game, starting at right field against host Chile and batting 9th. He flew out against Sebastián Vega and twice versus Luciano Echeverría while not handling a chance in the field. [2]
