Biographical Information[edit]

The son of doctors, Princeton man Danny Barnes pitched three seasons for the Toronto Blue Jays. In 119 career appearances, he fashioned a 4.33 ERA (4.42 FIP) with a 51/114 BB/K ratio and a 1.33 WHIP. He was designated for assignment in January 2019 and outrighted off the 40-man roster, becoming a minor league free agent at season's end. After a year off due to COVID-19, Barnes finished his playing career with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League in 2021.

The New York Mets hired Barnes to be a major league assistant coach during the 2022 season and he retained this position in 2023. Barnes served as a Mets strategy coach in 2024.
