Biographical Information[edit]

Dan Tenholder was a minor league pitcher for three years.

He was 9-1 with a 1.01 ERA as a high school sophomore, but missed his junior year due to injury; as a senior, he again was 9-1, this time with a 1.33 ERA and 103 strikeouts. He was All-State. He started his collegiate career poorly (0-1, 7 R, 8 BB, 9 WP, 4 HB in 6 2/3 IP) in 2007. In 2008, he became Austin Peay's closer and went 4-1 with 11 saves, a 2.08 ERA and 41 K in 36 1/3 IP. He set a school record for saves in a season and tied the record for games pitched (30). He led the Ohio Valley Conference in both departments. He became his school's all-time save leader as a junior when he was 3-2 with 9 saves and a 2.93 ERA. He again led the OVC in games pitched and tied for the save lead. The Oakland Athletics, behind scout Matt Ranson, took him in the 19th round of the 2009 amateur draft.

Tenholder went 0-2 with a save and a 5.26 ERA in 19 games for the 2009 AZL A's. He finished a combined no-hitter with Hector Garcia and Chris Mederos against the AZL Angels, but still took the loss; replacing Mederos in the 8th with a 1-1 tie, he got the side in order. In the 9th, though, two errors (one by Tenholder) put men on second and third. After an intentional walk, Tenholder walked Randal Grichuk on four pitches to force in the losing run.

Dan was 4-0 with two saves, a 1.86 ERA, 38 K in 38 2/3 IP and a WHIP under 1 for the 2010 Vancouver Canadians. He finished his career with the 2011 Burlington Bees, going 4-3 with 11 saves and a 3.02 ERA in 40 games; he fanned 58 in 53 2/3 IP. In 83 career games, he had a record of 8-5, 14 Sv, 3.13 as a pro. He allowed 39 walks and 107 hits in 118 innings while striking out 122.
