Biographical Information[edit]
Danny Schmitz played at Eastern Michigan from 1974 to 1977 and was the second baseman for the EMU team that was the 1976 College World Series runner-up.
Schmitz played in the minor leagues from 1977 to 1984, mostly at the AAA level. He then managed the Visalia Oaks from 1985 to 1987.
Schmitz returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach from 1988 to 1990. He was the head coach at Bowling Green State University from 1991-2020, He won three Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year awards.
